Many of ihem also belong lo OTC (OverThe Counier) distributed drugs, ihus, they are easily available for broad masses of world population. The afore-mentioned properties together with low production costs. high contení per dose and relalively high proporiion of unchanged drug in human excretes have made severa! NSAIDs water pollulants of the high importance The most important drug of NSAID group on a global scale is the oldest industrially produced remedy aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), which is substituted with ibuprofcn in the recent time due to its lower side efleets. In the Czech Republic. ibuprofcn has the largest sales volume of all NSAIDs and is the sccond bcst-sclling drug on the Czech market. Naproxcn and ketoprofen are other widely used NSAIDs in human medicine together with halogenatcd compounds such as diclofenac and indomethacin.
