Článek se věnuje hlavním vývojovým tendencím v myšlení amerického literárního historika Johna Guilloryho. Zvláště se věnuje jeho pojetí literárního kánonu jako typu kulturního kapitálu a zkoumání geneze pojmu média ve starších filosofických a estetických tradicích od Aristotela po Waltera Benjamina.

The article explores the main tendencies in the thought of the American literary historian John Guillory. The main points of inquiry are his concept of literary canon as a type of cultural capital and explorations of the genesis of the medium concept in the older philosophical and aesthetic traditions from Aristotle to Walter Benjamin.
