Results of pharmacological and toxicological studies might be substantially biased by possible presence of bacterial contaminants in samples of both natural and synthetic origin. The 100 kDa filters have been found sufficient to completely remove all lipopolysaccharide, lipoteichoic acid and peptidoglycan from test samples.
