The aim of the article published in the journal Ethnicity 2012, 2(7) is to describe history of the Slovaks in the Czech Lands and analyse the sequential forming of Slovak minority on the background of then historical and political events from 1945 till the present. The diverse origin of the Slovaks (e.g. the Slovaks coming from Slovakia, Rumania, Hungary and another countries), who settled the border land after 1945, prevented them from forming a minority with distinctive national awareness. Prague became the specific locality for inception of new Slovak minority after 1989 where a part of the so called “Slovaks of nomenclature” began to organize and came in minority lives during the so called “normalization” time.
