    We present the multistep procedure used to restore a partly distorted endoneurocranium of a small size feathered basal tyrannosauroid Dilong paradoxus. We compared the endocast of Dilong with that of Tyrannosaurus rex. We suggest that the linear pattern of the Tyrannosaurus endocast is an adaptation and does not reflect the original conditions of the tyrannosauroid clade which are more similar to those revealed by the endocast of Dilong
