The paper presents an acousto-mechanical device for characterization of skin local elastic properties. Skin soft tissue and skin substitutes were tested in-vitro under uniaxial cyclic loading, and skin hysteretic biomechanical responses were investigated with a phenomenological approach including Preisach-Mayergoyz (PM space) models. New phenomenological parameters of porcine skin are extracted using multi-scale acousto-mechanical uniaxial loading tests in symbiosis with nonlinear time-reversal approach. Experimentation, which associates a TR-NEWS 50 MHz ultrasonic instrumentation, and a mechanical loading with optimized excitation around 0.1–1.0 Hz has been coupled successfully in a fully automated system. Phenomenological hysteretic parameters are extracted and associated to standard parameters used for skin characterization.
