Autor obhajuje přímočarý realismus (týkající se vztahu jazyka a světa) a uplatňuje jej i ve sféře narativní fikce. Snaží se ukázat, že svět, k němuž narativní fikční text zaměřuje náš intelekt, představivost a sensitivitu, je ten stav aktuálního světa, který musíme akceptovat, má-li text plnit své literární funkce. Důsledky tohoto 'pozemského' obratu se týkají podmínek identity fikčních entit, otázky jejich úplnosti či neúplnosti, role singulárních termínů v narativních fikčních textech, komunikativního rozvrhu zakotveného v interpretaci těchto textů aj.

The author argues in favour of straightforward realism (concerning the language-world relation) and attempts to apply it in the sphere of narrative fiction. He suggests that the world to which a text of narrative fiction directs our intellect, imagination and sensitivity is that state of the actual world which we are supposed to accept in order to allow the text to fulfil its literary functions. The consequences of this „down-to-earth“ turn concern the identity conditions of fictional entities, the question of their completeness/incompleteness, the role of singular terms in the texts of narrative fiction, the communicative scheme embedded in interpreting these texts etc.
