Methodology of the theory of "places of memory" and creation of cultural identity may draw their ideas from archaeological excavations and their interpretation, mainly in the case of key sites for certain cultural levels or historic symbolism. Research conducted on these sites may have also been politically motivated, and, thus, immediately regressively influenced interpretation of the research's results. On the other hand, this methodology may also significantly contribute to the development of archaeological methods and complex research of the site. Our paper will focus on both these levels. On one hand, we will try to target the risks archaeologists are exposed to, and on the other hand, we will try to formulate contribution of these methods.
