The paper describes new climatic wind tunnel labolatory. As a separate unit of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic, the tunnel is used for fundamental research in civil engineering, architecture, heritage care and in other fields where wind effects appear along with further factors. The paper presents essential information about the interior layout of the tunnel together with the description of advanced facilities serving for simulation of a strong wind, rain, freeze and the heat radiation and the modeling of atmospheric boundary layer. The article is also focused on the description of the tunnel principal parts which were designed taking into account both the optimal flow characteristic and the flow resistence. The investigation of a design for a rectangular contraction nozzle, based on a parabolic profile and extending the capacity of the wind tunnel is presented.
