Environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) was trialled to attempt to identify a new way of viewing parasites. Helminth parasites infections may cause important diseases in humans and animals, so they are targets of many studies. Conventional scanning eletcron microscopy (SEM) is useed mainly in toxonomical research and and sample description in parasitology.
