Soil and light parameters were studied at sites invaded or not by giant hogweed. Presence as well as age of hogweed populations were considered. Seven out of 19 ecosystem properties were altered by invasion or invasion history. Chemical rather than biological parameters (PLFA) displayed post-invasion changes. These ecosystem changes likely underlie the invader’s impact on native communities.
