Gaseous nanobubbles adhering to solid surfaces immersed in de-ionized water were found to exhibit interfacial forces capable of nanopatterning hydrophobic surfaces at mild conditions. Random and net-like periodic nanopattern imprinted in polymeric film represent images of surfce nanobubble distribution and indicate formation of 2D nanofoams respectively. Nanopatterning mechanism, its correlation with experimental conditions and surface material properties is discussed.
