This investigation has been carried out as a part of the granted project “Reactive Chemical Barrier for Decontamination of Highly Polluted Groundwaters” (RECHEBA), which is focused on the design, technical implementation and practical realization of in-situ reactive barriers. In parallel, suitable localities for their application have been searched and explored as well as novel methods for the environmental remediation have been developed and tested. Based on hydrogeological conditions and chemical contamination, four suitable localities in the Czech Republic have been proposed for application of the permeable reactive barriers. The most appropriate place is an industrial area in Ostrava (North Moravia).
