This minireview provides an update on mechanisms of learning and memory as dynamic processes and focuses on synaptic plasticity (mainly long-term potentiation; LTP) and neurogenesis. It include both classical and most recent findings and provides a hypothesis that newly-born neurons in the hippocampus may code for dynamic and flexible aspects of memory
