Cílem semináře bylo bližší vzájemné seznámení sociálních vědců pracujících na českých akademických pracovištích na tématech týkajících se Arktidy a Sibiře. Každý účastník představil ostatním svou práci. Účastníci semináře se dozvěděli o The lnternational Arctic ScienceCommittee (IASC), členství české republiky v této komisi a možnostech financování výzkumu z mezinárodních zdrojů. K této tematice vystoupil Professor Peter Schweitzer (chair Social and Human Sciences Working Group of IASC), Docent Josef Elster (zástupce ČR v IASC) a Dr. Luděk Brož (zástupce ČR v Social and Human Sciences Working Group of IASC).

The goal of the workshop was establishment of closer ties between Czech social scientists working in the Arctic and Siberia. All participants introduced their research and discussed it with present colleagues. Participants were informed about The lnternational Arctic ScienceCommittee (IASC), Czech Republics membership in that organization and possibilities of international research funding by Professor Peter Schweitzer (chair Social and Human Sciences Working Group of IASC), Docent Josef Elster (representative of the ČR in IASC) a Dr. Luděk Brož (representative of the ČR in Social and Human Sciences Working Group of IASC).
