Kniha se zabývá otázkou popularizace vědy a jejím ideologickým významem v totalitních společnostech. Československá společnost pro šíření politických a vědeckých znalostí byla ve 20. století v Československu fakticky nejmocnější složkou komunistické propagandy a nejvlivnější organizací mající na starost popularizaci vědy. Kniha analyzuje její fungování a rozsah její činnosti, včetně možného dopadu na kolektivní myšlení soudobé české společnosti.
The book deals with the issue of the dissemination of science and its role in the ideological framework of totalitarian regimes. Czechoslovak society for the dissemination of political and scientific knowledge was the most powerfull part of the communist propaganda and the most influential organization dealing with the popularization of sciences in Czechoslovakia during the 20th Century. The book analyzes its functioning and the extent of its activities, including possible impact on the collective memory of Czech contemporary society.
