The main goals of the present contribution are to: (i) describe the monitoring network created in the mountainous regions in the Czech Republic; (ii) assess the input of water and pollutants from the wind driven low clouds and fogs onto the forest canopy and compare it with the bulk precipitation and throughfall; and (iii) introduce new designs of ground-level cloud water sampler, fog water gauge and the system of evaluation of fog water using the water balance of a forest canopy.
