Debaty o novém pojetí Huma mu připisují skepticismus v oblasti epistemologie, ale náznaky realismu v ontologickém smyslu. Polemizuji s článkem Jamese Hilla, zastáncem tohoto pojetí, a soustředím se na argument, že ontologické otázky u Huma patří do metafyziky, kterou se snažil z filosofie vyloučit.

The "New Hume" debate identifies Hume as an epistemological sceptic, but finds hint of ontological realism in his philosophy. I challenge this view, represented in a paper by James Hill, and focus on the argument, that ontological inquiry belongs to metahysics – an area that Hume wanted to get rid of.
