Poster na 40th European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics,04.-07.06.2013,Espoo, Recent observations on JET have revealed unexpected power loading features near the last closed flux surface on inner wall limiters, characteristic either of a narrow parallel heat flux channel in the near scrape-off layer,or the presence of a cross-field “funnelling” effect.Such narrow SOLs are not accounted for in the design of the ITER first wall panels.A series of dedicated experiments with specially designed inner wall graphite limiter tiles have thus been performed on the COMPASS tokamak.A series of circular limiter plasmas have been run with various Ip and different combinations of plasma current and toroidal field direction, designed to extract information on the presence of tile misalignments and plasma transport effects. Infra-red thermography is used to extract the surface heat flux density on the tile facets and a pair of fast reciprocating probes provide profiles of q|| in the main
