Komunistický státní převrat v Československu v únoru 1948 uzavíral seskupování středoevropských a východoevropských států v sovětský mocenský blok. V evropském historickém a politickém vědomí znamenal tento akt jednu z konkrétních forem nastolení komunistického monopolu moci, sovětizace středoevropského prostoru a též jeden z výrazných mezníků počátků studené války. Stejné nebo podobné proměny se udály ve všech evropských státech sovětské sféry vlivu. Při sledování vnitropolitického vývoje střední a východní Evropy v letech 1945-1948 je možné zjistit, že v jednotlivých zemích této oblasti Československo nevyjímaje se objevila řada analogických prvků a tendencí. Nastolit s konečnou platností mocenský monopol komunistických stran ve všech zemích zahrnutých do sféry jejího vlivu se tak stalo jedním z hlavních zájmů SSSR.

The Communist coup in Czechoslovakia in February 1948 closed grouping of Central and Eastern European countries in the Soviet power bloc. In European historical and political consciousness meant the act of one of the specific forms of establishment of the Communist monopoly of power, the Sovietization of Central European area and also one of the significant aspects of the beginnings of the Cold War. The same or similar changes occurred in all European countries the Soviet sphere of influence. When monitoring the internal developments in Central and Eastern Europe in 1945-1948, it is possible to determine that the individual countries of the region including in Czechoslovakia revealed a series of analogous elements and tendencies. Establish definitively the monopoly of the Communist Parties in all countries included in the sphere of influence has become one of the main interests of the USSR.
