The paper is the introduction for the Discovery Challenge workshop taking place during the ECML/PKDD 2003 Conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia (22-26 September 2003). The workshop was concerned on the analysis of the longitudinal twenty years lasting primary preventive study of risk factors of the atherosclerosis in middle-aged men (STULONG) by the methods named Data mining. The data description, the analytical questions for the knowledge discovery and the condition for further use of the data are given.
