Forecasting natural gas consumption plays a very important role for local distribution companies from operational and economic points of view. A lot of money can be saved if proper forecasting methods based on modern infomation technologies are applied. The prediction system ELVÍRA, which is currently used in Prague region. The forecasting performance of the system is compared with linear regression and neural network based models during one year period.
