Studie přibližuje projekt, který se zabýval analýzou obsahu knihovny arcivévody Ferdinanda II. Tyrolského (1529–1595), druhorozeného syna císaře Ferdinanda I. (1503–1564). Východiskem analýzy je pozůstalostní soupis z roku 1596, v němž jsou knihy stručně zaznamenány. Přestože nešlo o katalogový soupis, podařilo se podle tohoto pramenu knihovnu rekonstruovat a díky tomu analyzovat. Ukazuje na encyklopedický zájem vlastníka a dokresluje řadu jeho uměleckých a společenských aktivit.

The study presents a project concerned with analysis of the contents of the library of Archduke Ferdinand II of Tyrol (1529–1595), the second son of Emperor Ferdinand I (1503–1564). The departure point of the analysis is a register of the estate of the deceased dating from 1596, in which the books are recorded in brief. Although the register was not a catalogue list, it was possible to reconstitute the library according to this source and thus analyse it. It demonstrates the encyclopaedic interests of the owner and sheds light on many of his artistic and social activities.
