    Metagenomic study of prokaryotes associated with Tuber aestivum ectomycorrhizae and surrounding soil performed across a terrain transect cutting through the fungus soil colony margin revealed a close and significant association of several operational taxonomic units (OTUs) with ectomycorrhizae of this fungus. These OTUs correspond to actinobacterial suborder Pseudonocardineae and genera Ensifer and Lysobacter. Redundancy analysis with reduced rank regression show a close association of different bacterial taxa with T. aestivum also in soil. Extensive isolation efforts yielded many cultures of root-associated bacteria belonging to Rhizobiales and Streptomycineae, but none belonging to Pseudonocardineae. Selected isolates did not positively affect T. aestivum growth in culture
