Long-distance migrant bird species frequently use alternative wintering places and/or migration routes which results in establishment of migration divide. Individuals showing different migration behaviour can be exposed to dissimilar parasite pressure, and hence parasite spectra of the host species are expected to show coincident pattern with the migration divide.
