Cílem tohoto stručného úvodního článku bylo zprostředkovat čtenáři prvotní náhled na oblast u nás (ČR) poměrně málo známého a ještě méně popularizovaného vědního oboru – vícefázové hydrodynamiky. Snahou autorů bylo alespoň částečně naznačit vnitřní košatost a krásu tohoto poměrně mladého interdisciplinárního badatelského oboru.

The goal of this brief introductory article is to present the reader some basic facts about this relatively new inter-disciplinary field of multiphase flow dynamics. The main attempt is made to show its inner logical structure and challenging richness, as well as to highlight the typical methods used in the investigation.
