The N2O catalytic decomposition over Co-Mn-Al mixed oxide promoted with a various amount of cesium was examined in an inert gas and in the presence of oxygen, water vapor and nitric oxide. The cesium promoter was added by the impregnation of two different aqua solutions – CsNO3 and Cs2CO3. It was observed that the kind of used salt have no influence on chemical properties, porous structure of Co-Mn-Al mixed oxide and its catalytic activity. The catalytic activity increases with increasing amount of cesium promoter. The catalysts containing ca. 3.2 wt.%Cs was the most active one under the conditions simulating the composition of the waste gas (N2O, O2, H2O) upstream the SCR NOx unit in a nitric acid plant.
