The available ex-situ germplasm preserved under the name Taraxacum koksaghyz proved to belong to a hybridogenous agamospermous triploid species, T. brevicorniculatum. The two taxa are characterized morphologically, karyologically and by the extent of genetic variation. The apomict is a low rubber producer.
