Monografie představuje izolovanou slabiku moderní standardní čínštiny (putonghua), která je zvukovou nositelkou čínského morfému. Tématem je segmentální stavba slabiky (tj. její hláskové složení) – tón je ponechán stranou. Výklad je zasazen do širšího kontextu fonetických a fonologických bádání – jak tradičních, tak i moderních. Autorka se významně zajímá nejen o teoretickou analýzu, ale i o praktickou stránku věci: metodologii a koncepci výuky výslovnosti čínského „slabikáře“. Publikace může posloužit všem, kteří mají hlubší zájem o zvukovou stavbu čínštiny, o jemnosti její výslovnosti a případně se chtějí v praktickém jazyce přiblížit výslovnosti rodilého mluvčího. Součástí textu jsou i obecnější pasáže, které jej zpřístupňují i čtenářům bez lingvistického či fonetického zázemí. The monograph deals with the segmental structure of the isolated syllable of Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin, putonghua), which is a carrier of a Chinese morpheme. The tone is left aside. The treatment is presented in a wider context of phonetic and phonologic research – both traditional and contemporary. The author is not only interested in theortical analysis, but in practical aspects as well: i. e. in the methodology and concepts in teaching pronunciation of Mandarin syllabary. The book is written for those who are interested in the sound structure of Mandarin including the subtle nuances of its pronunciation, and strive to approximate the level of language proficiency of a native speaker. The book contains general explications which make it accessible to a reader without a previous linguistic knowledge. It can be used by the Sinologists with linguisitcs interests, university pedagogues and students, and by the general phoneticians and linguists as a basis for comparison of sound structure of various languages.
