In the search of a suitable mediator for magnetic fluid hyperthermia (MFH) our group has focused on the nanoparticles of the cobalt-zinc ferrite. Namely the composition of Co0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4+γ has been considered for MFH with respect to its Curie temperature and thus the possibility of the self-controlled heating mechanism in the range of 42 - 45 °C. The silica coated Co0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4+γ nanoparticles with the mean size of crystallites 12 and 24 nm were selected for the magnetic heating study. The experiments were performed on a home-made apparatus in an AC field of the amplitude H up to 13.8, 8.9 and 6.0 kA.m-1 for frequencies f = 107, 480 and 960 kHz, respectively, employing stable aqueous suspensions with concentration of 3 - 5 mg(Co+Fe).ml-1. The heating power of the samples was corrected on the thermal losses because of non-adiabatic conditions.
