    We investigated the course of chronological aging of S. cerevisiae wild strain JC 482 (MAT α, ura3-52, leu2, RAS2, his4-539) at both the cellular and population level and analysed basic cellular parameters such as cell size, cell mass, cell viability, protein content and amount of mitochondria. Based on statistical analysis we determined the parameter that is best suited for describing aging-associated changes in mitochondrial physiology represented by respiration rate
