Donald A. Ritchie a Anne G. Ritchie patří nejen mezi nejznámější manželský pár v mezinárodní orálně historické komunitě, ale hlavně se jedná o renomované odborníky s mnohaletou praxí v oblasti historie, archivnictví, knihovnictví a též dějin umění. Oba se od poloviny sedmdesátých let minulého století velmi významně podíleli na utváření orální historie jako oboru provozovaného v interdisciplinárním a také mezinárodním kontextu (např. aktivním angažmá v oborových organizací jako Oral History Association nebo International Oral History Association). Příspěvek si vzal za cíl postihnout základní biografická data a také postihnout jejich význam jakožto pomyslných „velvyslanců“ orální historie a obecně americké vědy a vzdělání ve světě.

However Donald A. Ritchie and Anne G. Ritchie are perceived by colleagues not only like the most known pair in oral history community, first of all they are the honorable scholars with long time praxis in oral history domain, in archiving, library science and also in history of art. From 1970s both of them contributed in establishing of oral history as domain realised in interdisciplinar and international context (especially by active participating in councils of Oral History Association and of International Oral History Association). This article is aimed to resume in short biographical sketch their importance and contribution towards oral history field (like symbolical „Ambassadors of U. S. oral history, humanities and education“ in the world).
