Mechanical processes taking place at micro/nano-structures are the basis of functional behaviors of most advanced materials. Research of these processes can be carried out on an extremely local level (AFM, nanoscale modulus mapping, optical and electron microscopy), or measuring their contribution to high frequency mechanical response of material on macrosacle (ultrasonic method).
