We review problems where CD spectroscopy contributed to the understanding of the conformational polymorphism of DNA. Circular dichroism (CD)arises from differential absorption of right handed and left handed circularly polarized light by chiral molecules. This phenomenon has been described in detail in previous books. In nucleic acids there are three sources of chirality.
