A mathematical model of a machine based on the Parallel Path Magnetic Technology (PPMT) is presented. Its main goal is to find the optimal arrangement of the machine with respect to reaching its maximal torque and minimal rippling of its angular velocity. The optimization is based on the conjugate gradient method and is carried out iteratively. The solution of magnetic field required in each step is performed using a fully adaptive higher-order finite element method. The computations are realized by own codes Agros2D and Hermes2D.
