The present paper examines an effect of plasma medium on anode processes in PAC. A steam plasma torch was modified to enable application of both steam and gaseous plasma medium. Nitrogen, air and steam plasmas have been studied and compared. Visualisation of both regimes, pilot and transfer arc during cutting, was performed together with electrical measurements followed by analyses of the nozzle erosion and geometry of drag lines in the kerf.
