    Concentration distribution of 0.53-mm glass-bead (ballotini) particles in flow of heterogeneous mixture was measured in a laboratory pipe of the internal diameter of 100mm by a radiometric device. Obtained profiles were compared with results of theoretical models considered appropriate for the tested flow conditions (the models by Kaushal and Tomita 2002, Gillies and Shook 1994). The comparison showed that the models required modifications in order to provide satisfactory agreement with the measured profiles. From the tested models, the one by Gillies and Shook appeared to be more eligible for modification in the tested conditions. An optimization of its key parameter was carried out using the measured profiles with as a result a reasonable agreement between the measured- and predicted profiles.
