    Cardiac tolerance to ischemia in 1-day-old SHR was higher than in WKY. In both strains tolerance decreased after birth, and on day 10 the difference disappeared. The high cardiac resistence in 1- and 10-day-old SHR and WKY could not be further increased by both ischemic preconditioning and adaptation to intermittent high-altitude hypoxia
