The study of Ru-doping on magnetism of Y2Fe17-xRux (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1)has revealed the suppression of a collinear ferromagnetic order with the Ru content increase. The magnetic behavior of Y2Fe17-xRux with x= 0.5 and 1 duplicates that of the isostructural Lu2Fe17-xRux (x = 0.5 and 1) compounds and can be attributed to existence of a helical antiferromagnetic structure in the whole range of magnetic order. The magnetostriction study performed by high-field X-ray diffraction has shown that the metamagnetic antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic transition in the alloy with x = 0.5 is accompanied by the largest among the series linear strains (mostly occurring along the easy magnetization axis of the compound), with the volume effect reaching out 1.4*10-3 in the field of 5 T at 10 K
