    The secular equation for the Rayleigh–edge waves propagating in a thin semiinfinite orthotropic elastic continuum is derived. The secular equation is obtained as a quartic one for the squared wave velocity. Some numerical examples showing the influence of principal ma-terial directions on Rayleigh-edge wave velocity are presented.
