HPMA-ZnPP forms micelle structure in aqueous solution, which has ability to generate singlet oxygen upon light irradiation. In in vivo setting, HPMA-ZnPP accumulates in the tumor selectively by EPR effect, and its specific accumulation at the tumor tissue was demonstrated by fluorescent imaging. Furthermore HPMA-ZnPP exhibits remarkable anti-tumor activity by light irradiation.
