Extensive review is given on dust (PM) removal from fuel and producer gas in gasification of coal, biomass, waste and co-gasification. The temperature of dust removal is often dictated by presence of tar compounds and by their dew point. Moving bed granular filters, fabric bag filters, various ceramic filters, wet scrubbers, demisters and wet electrostatic precipitators (wet ESP) for mist, dust and aerosol particles and are described, compared in terms of convenient operating conditions and attainable PM removal efficiencies.
