Nejdříve je pojednáno o komunitě dalitů, dříve "nedotýkatelných" v Indii. Následují překlady povídek, básní a částí románů dalitské literatury, která líčí utrpení a těžké životní podmínky dalitů, ale také jejich vůli čelit těmto podmínkám.
