    In this work we have modified the PE with argon plasma under different conditions. The Au nanoparticles were then grafted in the chemically activated polymer surface. Surface changes were subsequently studied with several analytical techniques (AFM, XPS, zeta-potential). The influence of the plasma modification and the grafting wih Au nanoparticles on proliferation of living cells was evaluated
