This paper points to problems with ignoring past work in linguistics. This is demonstrated on the example of the recently formulated notions of „comparative concepts and descriptive categories“ in cross-linguistic studies. In addition, a remark is made on the excessive desire to be original, a widespread concern in present-day linguistics.
