The inherent weakness of the Bowen ratio energy balance method, as well as other micrometeorological methods, is that it rarely provides uninterrupted data series. The reasons are usually low friction velocity, low available energy, Bowen ratio close to -1 or any system failure. The gaps subsequently result in natural impossibility to provide accurate daily, monthly or seasonal sums of evapotranspiration or other fluxes. The aim of this work is to find the most effective method for gap filling based on comparison and statistical evaluation of four semi-empirical evapo(transpi)ration model. Namely, the Priestley-Taylor, Penman and Penman-Monteith with Todorovic´s or Lohammar approach for modelling surface resistance were used. The results showed that the Penman equation adjusted by linear regression is the most accurate method, however, the Lohammar approach based on daily or weekly non-linear parameterization is the most physically-based method with high potential.
