Záměrem všech kapitol je snaha o alespoň určitý posun v poznání zdravotně sociální situace Romů a jejich kvality života, v závislosti na vnitřní diferenciaci etnické, sociální, lokální i na generačních změnách, s důrazem na sociální determinanty zdraví (převzaté z konceptu Wilkinsona a Marmota), které byly sledovány zejména v oblasti sociální opory, práce a nezaměstnanosti, výživy, užívání návykových látek a stresu. V monografii uvedené poznatky snad alespoň trochu přispějí k rozšíření vědomostí o této dosud málo zpracované problematice i k navržení dalších možných cest k řešení této oboustranně stále složitější oblasti. Součástí knihy je CD-ROM.

The intention of all chapters is the pursuit of, at least, a small progress in learning about the health and social situation of the Roma and their quality of live, depending on their internal ethnic, social, local differentiation, as well as generation changes, with emphasis given to social determinants of health (adopted from the concept of Wilkinson and Marmot) as observed, in particular, in the areas of social support, work and unemployment, nutrition, use of addictive drugs and stress. The findings presented in the monograph will hopefully contribute at least a small portion to acquiring a greater knowledge about this so far not that well elaborated issue and the designing of additional possible ways to solve this increasingly complex situation. The part of the book is CD-ROM.
