The liquid and solid particles that are suspended in the air are called aerosols. The present article deals with the cloud and fog water deposition as a major pathway for the transport of atmospheric pollutants. This so-called occult precipitation is generally more acid than rainwater and has higher levels of ionic concentrations. The main aim of the presented contribution is to compare the concentrations of chemical species in the fog and cloud water collected in mountainous areas of the Czech Republic with different pollutant load and to determine if site-to-site variation exists. A fog water chemistry study carried out over the 17-years period proved high acidity of fog water and high values of enrichment factors.
