Vapour-liquid equilibrium data for such systems are scarce and, moreover, there are significant discrepancies between the literature data from different sources. We have measured high-pressure solubility in the system CO2 + [emim][Tf2N] at pressures up to 15 MPa at four isotherms 303, 313, 323, and 333 K. The binary sub-systems (CO2 + 1-butanol) and (CO2 + [emim][Tf2N]) were studied at the same temperatures and at pressures up to 12 MPa. A synthetic method using the Super Phase Monitor 20 apparatus was applied. The central part of the instrument is a variable-volume view-cell charged with known amounts of ionic liquid and CO2. By using a video camera, the bubble point is detected by observing the disappearance of the last bubble of the lighter phase during the controlled increase of pressure.
