This paper concerns the study of non-stationary stress waves in a thin viscoelastic disc using analytical and numerical approach. Concretely, the analytical solution of the linear problem of radially loaded disc the dissipation material behavior of which is modeled by the linear standard viscoelastic solid is presented. The Laplace transforms of stress components describing the state of plane stress in the disc are derived by the help of the Fourier method and the method of integral transforms. With respect to the complexity of derived functions, the FFT-based algorithm in conjunction with epsilon−algorithm as a sequence accelerator was used for the inverse Laplace transform. To avoid the loss of analytical solution accuracy, its multi-precision mplementation in Maple and Matlab environment has been performed. The correctness of the analytical solution derivation and its evalution is then verified by the numerical simulation carried out in the finite element system MSC.Marc.
